Mastery of Differentiation
for Years 10 to 12

ONLINE Oxbridge Preparation Weekend on 30-31 March 2024

In this camp we will focus on differentiation and curves. Preparation, confidence building and understanding the process are among the key elements of success in applying to Oxbridge and our courses are designed to optimise pupils chances of gaining a place.

Very difficult topics in the A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics curricula are implicit differentiation, curves and polar curves. We will practice these topics starting with the first principles of Newton's invention and moving from the differentiation of fundamental functions to advanced applications and investigations of functions and curves.

The hours of the camp on Saturday and Sunday are 10am to 5pm with a series of classes at 10am-11.30am, 11.45am-1pm, 2pm-3.30pm and 3.45pm-5pm. The fee is £380. Participants study in small groups according to age and experience.

To take part a pupil must have a PC or laptop (Windows or Mac OS) with a camera and mic and a stable internet connection.

The Oxbridge entrance exams are demanding and finding the right support and teaching towards them can be difficult. At LondonSMP we know what the examiners are looking for and how best to prepare for them. This invaluable knowledge, what you need to know and the recipe for success, are contained in our Oxbridge Weekend Camps and courses.

Even if your child is not planning to read Maths at university, this Oxbridge preparation course teaches up to and beyond the level required of Maths and Further Maths A levels, optimising each pupil’s opportunity to secure the A or A* they desire.

Our teaching method focuses on understanding complex concepts completely to avoid risky rote learning. Over these two days, pupils will examine the most complex areas of algebra, ensuring the school curriculum is mastered and going beyond it. We take each area of algebra and then drill through the questions pupils will encounter at GCSE, A level, Further Maths A level and on to MAT, STEP and TMUA questions.

This camp is taught by Dr Hrasko, LondonSMP’s Head of Maths. Andras holds a PhD in Mathematics from Roland Eotvos University (Budapest, Hungary) and an MSc in Mathematics from the University of Warwick. Over his 20-year teaching career, Andras has trained numerous winners in the annual IMO and the European Maths Olympiad for Girls. Andras also has a fine understanding of the exam demands of GCSE and A-levels and, as a specialist in STEP and MAT tests, has taught numerous pupils to success in their Oxbridge entrance exams.
